Why AI virtual brows are not a result

Jisun Yoo, owner of London Brow · · Editorial principles

My brow preview compares virtual shapes and intensity on your photo. It does not predict what a session will produce or decide the best design for you. It cannot see how your hairs grow, how much hair you have or how your face moves. Use it to find the questions you want to ask, and keep your expectations for the conversation in the room.

What the preview is, in one sentence

I'm Jisun, the owner of London Brow in Seoul. The brow preview on my website is a virtual comparison: it places three AI-generated brow styles on your photo so you can see how shape and intensity change the overall impression of your face. Every comparison card it makes carries the same line: 'Virtual eyebrow try-on · Actual treatment results may differ'.

I want that line read literally. A virtual eyebrow try on is not a real result, not a forecast and not a design. It is closer to holding up different frames in an optician's mirror: useful for seeing what you like, silent about how the real thing is made.

What the preview cannot know

The preview works from one still photo. It does not know the direction your brow hairs grow in the front, the middle and the tail, which is the first thing I read. It does not know how dense your hair is under the surface of the photo, or how your hair colour sits in daylight. Camera angle and lighting change the virtual brow too; the same face can look different in two photos taken a minute apart.

It also cannot see your face move. Many people raise one brow when they talk, or frown when they concentrate, and a design has to look right in those moments too. A photo shows one moment. That is why the preview's own guidance says it does not predict treatment results or diagnose the best design for you.

A test that shows the limit for yourself

Try this. Take two photos of yourself a few minutes apart, one by a window and one under indoor light. Run both through the preview with the same style and the same intensity. Then put the two cards side by side.

You will usually see differences: the brow looks heavier on one, or the arch sits slightly differently. Nothing about your face changed. Only the photo did. Once you have seen that with your own eyes, it is easier to treat the preview as a comparison tool rather than a promise. People differ in how much the two cards vary, but almost everyone sees some change.

What the preview is good for

None of this makes the tool pointless. It is good at one thing: separating questions you have never separated before. Do you prefer a straight line or an arch? Do you want your brows to read lightly or strongly? Is your reaction about the shape or about the strength? Those are real preferences, and a card that shows them is a good way to start a conversation.

What happens in the room is different. London Brow is built on natural brows that keep your original impression rather than making a big change, and I do not make the same brow twice. I check face shape, hair direction and density, then draw the design on your brow so you can see it in the mirror before anything is decided. That drawn design, on your real face, is the closest thing to a preview that matters.

How to send the card without the wrong expectation

Consultations at London Brow are translation-assisted over WhatsApp. When you send a card, frame it as a preference: 'I liked the feel of Round Arch at a light setting. Is something in that direction possible with my brows?' That sentence asks for my reading of your brows instead of a copy of the image, and it is the kind of question I can answer honestly.

Before your consultation

  • Read the line on the card literally: virtual try-on, actual results may differ.
  • Run two photos in different light through the same style and compare the cards.
  • Use the card to separate shape preferences from strength preferences.
  • Send the card as a direction you like, not as an image to copy.

Common questions

Why offer a preview at all if it is not a result?

Because seeing shapes on your own face helps you notice what you prefer. Many people find it easier to say 'straighter' or 'lighter' after a few minutes with it. The preview is for questions, not for promises.

Can you make my brows look exactly like the card?

No, and I would not aim to. The card is an AI image on one photo. The design is made for your real brows, your hair direction and your face, and is decided together in the consultation.
